Summary
Collection contains four promotional reels, Boy Scout camp footage and a Mother’s Day announcement. Reels one and two, presented by the Katahdin Council Boy Scouts, include scenes of camping, swimming, diving, and boating. Reel three is a promotional short film encouraging viewers to "Bring Mother to the movies at this theater" on Mother’s Day. Reel four contains five additional announcements used in the theater. These reels, local news and advertising documents, represent the types of images shown by theaters.
Biographical/Historical Notes
The Criterion Theatre on Cottage Street in Bar Harbor, Maine, was opened in 1932 by George McKay. The building, on the National Register of Historic Places, continues to operate as a seasonal cinema.
