Summary
Collection contains [Elizabeth Thompson Reed--home movies] of Hancock Point, Maine, summer activities such as tennis, sailing and swimming as well as winter campus scenes and a graduation. Collection also contains footage of the arrival of the Bar Harbor Express, a train meeting the ferry that ran between Hancock and Mt. Desert Island. See also Hancock Historical Society Collection.
Biographical/Historical Notes
Elizabeth Thompson Reed, Sheila Denny-Brown's mother, lived in New Haven, Connecticut, was a graduate of Vassar College and came to Hancock Point on a visit around 1900; she was an advocate for women's rights. She and her husband came to Hancock Point every summer from around 1910. Original footage is 16 mm. film.
