Summary
Collection contains [Howard Kane--home movies], scenes of logging operations and the town of Machias, Machias Seal Islands and the Machias Lumber Company mill. Also shown are airplanes, the Goodyear blimp, Maine lakes and coastline, Bowdoin College and various cities in the U.S. and around the world. Collection also contains unedited footage related to Kane's medical practice. See also Fogler Library Collection.
Biographical/Historical Notes
Howard Kane (1887-1946) graduated from Bowdoin College in 1909, received his medical degree from George Washington University and practiced obstetrics in Washington, D.C. He filmed logging processes for Alfred Ames, owner of the Machias Lumber Company mill, who used this footage in "From Stump to Ship." James Marsh is Kane's nephew.
